Mr. Md. Arif Al Islam is an entrepreneur and corporate leader with a track record of leading diversified investments and large organizations. He is the co-founder and MD & CEO of Summit Communications Ltd, the largest fibre optic operator and Internet gateway wholesaler in the country. All Telecom operators, Internet Service Providers, Cable TV Operators and Government connectivities are dependent on Summit Communications network as their primary transmission infrastructure and Internet provider. Its subsidiary Summit Towers has become one of the tower operators with over 2000 towers thereby, being the only end-to-end infrastructure provider of the ICT sector.
Mr. Islam started his career in public practice in the UK as an FCCA. Later, he held the position of Senior Manager at KPMG. Then, he led the largest mobile operator in the country, Grameenphone, a subsidiary of Telenor, as Deputy CEO and CFO. Over a ten-year career in Grameenphone, he played an instrumental role in building Grameenphone from a startup company to the largest corporate house in Bangladesh. In Grameenphone, he single-handedly led strategic planning, corporate finance, investment committee, health safety & compliance and many other strategic initiatives during his tenure.
Recently as an FCCA Mr. Islam has been elected as a Global Council Member of ACCA, the largest international accountancy and finance body having its head office in the UK. He has become the first-ever Bangladeshi to be a Global Council Member of ACCA. He was also the Founding Chairman of the ACCA Bangladesh Member Advisory Committee (MAC).
